Today, Dressv Reviews will share something about Wedding Tiaras.
Alongside the perfect wedding dress the tiara is one of the most iconic wedding day pieces worn by royalty, brides and fictional characters alike. For the majority of today’s society, this beautiful headpiece has little more relevance than to make a bride feel more princess like on her wedding day. So how has the style of the tiara varied and changed from when it was first worn?
Alongside the perfect wedding dress the tiara is one of the most iconic wedding day pieces worn by royalty, brides and fictional characters alike. For the majority of today’s society, this beautiful headpiece has little more relevance than to make a bride feel more princess like on her wedding day. So how has the style of the tiara varied and changed from when it was first worn?
It’s thought that the Egyptians were the founders of the tiara with the Egyptian queens and princesses being worshiped and idolized while wearing the ornate and heavy tiaras. Later, the Greeks’ diadems were decorated with gold and silver natural shapes of leaves and flowers that were worn on ceremonial occasions. To the era of Napoleon where he himself had a large impact on the tiara with the need to show his affluence and nobility made the tiara a necessity at social functions during his reign.
The tiara was most popular between the early 1800s and the beginning of World War I where it was given to the bride from either her future husband or father the day before the wedding as a gift and to signify wealth and status. Originally, there were three styles of wedding tiara. The diadem or circlet wedding tiara , the garland , and the kokoshnik.
It seems as though crown tiaras have taken a back seat with easier to wear headpieces now being in bigger demand, for example dainty headbands and side tiaras. As our previous blog explains, retro styles have highly influenced designers to produce vintage styles with inspiration from the art deco aesthetic as well as a recent interest of bohemian styles mean brides want a more relaxed approach towards wedding hair and accessories. This more laid back approach towards hairstyling does by no means mean it is not as polished and perfected but with loose curls and messy up do’s smaller hair pieces add something extra to the final hair without distracting from the look.
No matter if the hair you decide on for the big day is up or down, straight or curled there is a headpiece that will suit any brides taste. From headpieces to hairband styles with the simple addition of a hair accessory you are that one step closer to wedding day perfection!
